Google bids farewell to its old search console after launching its new one almost a year back. Google Search Console is a free service offered by Google. This helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the presence of your website in Google Search results. This is a vital tool as it helps you understand and improve how Google views your website, and indeed any other search engine.
Google’s Search Console and its reports have been used for years to help monitor and improve the website performance on Google Search.
How does it affect SEO? This move is a big change for SEO, especially for those who were comfortable with the old interface. Google has uprooted features slowly from the old interface, but some SEO professionals continue to hang on to it. So if you or your agency are not used to the new interface, it is time that you apprise yourselves.
What features will be altered?
- The old Crawl Errors report is going to be removed
- Google also plans to remove the crawl errors API
- Google Search Console will no longer show information about short and duplicated titles
- Property Sets feature will be removed. This will be replaced by the option of managing a Search Console account over an entire domain
- Android Apps feature will be removed
- The standalone section of Blocked Resources will be removed as these will now be found in the URL inspection tool
- Structured Data reporting will not be done in Search Console anymore
To truly release your websites SEO potential, you should also consider working with an Internet Marketing Agency or Web Design and SEO specialist.
Making sure you are understanding and analysing the data is one thing, but critical is that you actually give the search engines the right data in the right way. You wouldn’t want to rate a book if half the pages were missing, the chapters were in the wrong order or the language unreadable? This is no different, and what a site looks like on the outside may not reflect what a search engine can actually read on the inside.
